The Deets..

Follow the amazing plus size trio, The Curvies, as they find love, drama, tears, laughs and a song to match every situation. Bree Carson loves her life, friends and little town, but something is missing. Taylor Cole returns home after ten years and old flames reignite. Can he break through Bree’s walls? This book is the first in a three novella set following the lives of three curvy best friends: Bree, Elise and Skyla. The first book follows Bree and her life as she fumbles her way through letting down walls and letting love in. This novella has a lot of laughs and a little drama and introduces the readers to the rest of the characters leading into the second book, which builds up suspense for the third and final installment. These novellas will appeal to plus size or curvy women everywhere, especially those who enjoy books in the BBW (big, beautiful women), chicklit and women’s fiction genres. It’s just one of those reads that busy women of today can enjoy while they relate to the curvy ladies who aren’t super models but representative of your average everyday beauty.

A Sneak Peek Inside....

Forty-five minutes later, I rush through the front door of the shop. Tables and sofa seats are filled with customers, and people are lining up at the counter to place or pay for their orders.

I see Skyla running around, trying her best to keep pace, and looking flustered. Throwing my things under the counter top, I make my way to the cash register and begin working.

When Skyla sees that I have finally arrived, a look of anger and frustration floods her face. After staring me down for what felt like hours (okay, like ten seconds), the ‘I’m-so-mad-at-you’ face is suddenly transformed into a look of relief as she drops her shoulders and breathes a sigh”

@GoddessFish SuperBookBlast, Review & Giveaway - Shimmy for Me by Deanna Cameron

Shimmy for Me

Juggling two jobs to keep her belly dance studio afloat keeps Abby Anderson’s mind off her shattered love life—until a reawakened pain sends her into the arms of an anonymous stranger she plucks from the audience of her tribal belly dance show. No names, no strings, no romance. She tells herself it’s a harmless hookup.

Until he turns up at her day job . . .

Derek Collier, the sexy heir to the Collier media dynasty, just landed everything he’s always wanted: the publisher’s seat at the Orange County Herald. Except his first order of business is to sell the newspaper. Reeling from his family’s betrayal, his only comfort is the memory of that mysterious belly dancer and the perfect night they spent together.

He won’t rest until he finds her again.

She’ll lose everything if he does.

A Sneak Peek inside...

Only one thing could divert his thoughts tonight, and she was standing in front of him, just out of reach.

He bridged the distance and touched her porcelain white chin.

“Is this all right?” he asked.

She covered his hand with her own and nuzzled into it.

“We seemed to have skipped the introductions,” he said, his eyes locked on that smooth, soft cheek. “I suppose I have the advantage. I already know who you are, Zenina, so maybe I should tell you I’m—”

She stopped his mouth with a quick finger. “No names,” she said, her chocolate eyes widening. “No numbers. Nothing. All right? Let’s just enjoy tonight.”

She didn’t want to get to know him? Or force him to get to know her? No hoops to jump through, no empty promises to make?

She really was perfect.

She took his hand from her shoulder and guided it down the front of her, over the rise of her breast, the soft slope of her belly, the ridge of her belts and scarves.

His chest thudded at the feel of her. His mind froze.

She stopped his hand and pulled it away.

“Do we have a deal?” she purred.

“Oh yeah,” he said, his heartbeat racing, his breath coming fast. “You can have whatever you want.”

A slow, sexy smile crept across her face and she rose on her toes to whisper in his ear. “Just for tonight, handsome. Just one night.”

My Thoughts on Shimmy for Me

Temporary newspaper accounts clerk by day, belly dancer by night Abby Anderson is working tirelessly to save her struggling dance studio from closure. She's a single lady with certain, um, needs, that haven't been met for over a year. So tonight, for one night only, she has every intention of finding someone to meet them. Derek Collier has spent the last six years learning his family's business inside out only to have his destiny swept right from underneath him. So tonight, for one night only, he's looking for a much needed distraction.

Abby doesn't expect her one night stand to walk through the door the very next day, as Derek takes his place at the head of the media corporation Abby works at. And then Abby is given the opportunity of a full time permanent position as Derek's Assistant. A pay rise, with a cash lump sum hovering on the horizon, Abby can't turn down the opportunity to save her studio. So prays to god that Derek doesn't recognise her instead,

Shimmy for me is a great novella to snuggle up with on a cold winters night. Abby is likeable insecure girl, who's intelligent, dedicated, and incredibly ambitious. She wears her huge heart on her sleeve, and yet she guards it with her life, not ready to open it to the scrutiny of people who don't understand her desire to dance. Derek is gorgeous, sexy, brooding, not ready to let his family's business go, yet hopeless to stop it being sold, in fact he's the one who has to sell it.

Abby's desire to keep her belly dancer's identity a secret leads to Derek becoming almost dismissive of her, abrupt and impolite at best. For me, their interaction in the office let the story down, they had all this chemistry and attraction right at the beginning of the story, but that disappeared the moment they began their working relationship. No watching each other work, nor catching eyes. No non-intentional flirting, nor sharing smiles. Which made it easier to understand why Derek, when he found out his hot fiery belly dancer was right under his nose. He walked away. I wanted to slap him and say 'Dude, get your head out of your ass!'. I wanted them to work it out. I wanted them to achieve their happily ever after. But I don't feel like Derek deserved Abbey in the end. Sure he did something to help her save studio. But Abby went to extreme lengths, in spite of humiliation, in order to help save Derek from his predetermined failure.

Despite the fact I didn't enjoy the way their romance unfolded, and not feeling satisfied with the overall ending. It pulled me in and kept me there. I cared for the characters. And I did get the smile, and warm fuzzies that they worked it all out in the end. And its for this reason I'm breaking my usual rule of never posting a less than four stars review. There are so many elements which determine the quality of reading experience that had I not found Abby and Derek's story not quite to my tastes - although others may disagree - I would have absolutely given it four stars. Cameron's fluid writing styling allows a seamless slip from real world to fiction world and she makes it easy to stay there right to the very end. I'll definitely be looking out for more from this author!

@ GoddessFish Book Tour - Pitch Imperfect by Elise Alden

Once-famous singer Anjuli Carver has returned to tiny Heaverlock Village alone and nearly broke. She’s poured every last penny into a rambling Victorian manor, hoping to start over. Trouble is, her money pit is falling to pieces and the only restoration architect for miles is Rob Douglas…her ex-fiancé.

For eight years, Rob has regretted not telling Anjuli why he never answered her letters. Being left at the altar broke his heart, but being used for sex one night in London after the fact nearly drove him to the edge of sanity, and he’ll be damned if he allows Anjuli to wreak havoc on his life again. He’ll restore her manor, all right, and give her taste of her own medicine while he’s at it.

But how long can revenge last when memories of their shared past keep rushing to the surface?

Soon, Rob wants answers. Why did Anjuli leave the international spotlight to become a recluse in the Scottish Borderlands? And why does she refuse to sing? Anjuli wants nothing more than to be left alone with her grief, even as she struggles to keep her sexy fantasies about Rob in check. With gossipy villagers, interfering friends and more secrets between them than notes on a scale, Anjuli and Rob will need to find forgiveness in order to work together, then decide if they’re willing to risk it all on an encore performance.

Get to know Elise Alden

Elise Alden reads, writes and revels in romance, and is never happier than when caught up in a heart-thumping, sweat-your-socks-off tale—hers or somebody else’s. She loves creating stories about flawed characters, people for whom love isn’t simply a question of boy-meets-girl, but a gut wrenching journey of transformation.

What are your future ambitions?

Experience has taught me not to think too much about the future and live in ‘the now’. Recently, I was asked about my ‘five year plan’ to which my mental response was oh hell, I need a five year plan? This question did force me, however, to think about what I want to achieve—which turned out to be quite a lot, and then I was back to oh, hell! Straight away I had a reality check and struck off ‘take over the planet and rule the galaxy’. It’s just not doable within that time frame. I also put a line through backpacking through Cambodia and working as crew on a yacht. Gone are the days when I could go without a comfy bed and great food for more than, oh, one night. So, my best case scenario with regards to future ambitions, would be to write the stories in my head that are that are bursting to be told. I have over forty books planned, but unfortunately I write slowly and I have a plethora of day-to-day commitments. Add to that are two children who want cuddles and kisses (and rightly so) and who sometimes complain when I spend hours in front of my laptop. I am a 24/7 teddy bear. If anybody reading this knows where the Writefast Fairy lives please pop me an email on author@elisealden.com.

Tell us about your latest release.

Pitch Imperfect is about Anjuli Carver, who left the man she loved at the altar to pursue her singing career. There were reasons, of course—I don’t believe someone would do such a thing without it being a  last resort—but she’s regretted it ever since. The book is also about the man she left behind, architect Rob Douglas, and how his anger and attraction towards Anjuli collide when she returns eight years later and needs his help. Pitch Imperfect brings together two people who were meant for each other but somehow got lost along the way, and forces them to deal with their pasts so they can embrace the future.

This novel was fun to write, but it was also a very emotional experience. It deals with themes of guilt and atonement, of loss and acceptance. One of the things I love about Pitch Imperfect is its setting—a remote corner of the Scottish Borders. It’s not the highlands, but the verdant, dramatic lowlands near the border with England, and has a very different culture. And hunks in kilts.

@GoddessFish Book Tour & Giveaway - Clear as Glass by @LynnKellan

Cover of Clear as Glass
by Lynn Kellan

Poised to become her overbearing father's right-hand man, Jaye Davis is tired of being a faceless drone, writing software. She’d rather help real people—like the family who owns a struggling glassblowing factory in rural Pennsylvania. While she’s there, she might figure out how to squash the secrets gnawing at her.

Mitchell Blake and his father keep butting heads about expanding Blake Glassware, and now Mitch has to deal with his father's consultant, Jaye. She claims online marketing will boost sales, but Mitch insists broadening their product line will increase revenue. Arguing with this doe-eyed woman makes one thing perfectly clear: she has the power to shatter his safe, lonely life.

Jaye’s got four weeks to save his glassblowing factory, but he detests her marketing plan. She’s got no place to live, but he has an extra bedroom in his house. She’s got secrets, but living with a glassblower who can see right through her would be an enormous mistake…or would it?

A Sneak Peek Inside the Cover...

Hot anger blasted out of her anguish, opening her throat with a sudden surge of adrenaline. “Is this how you reacted when your mother left? Did you stand on your almighty principles and condemn her, too? I bet you treated your fiancée the same way.” Jaye clamored out of the hot tub and landed on the deck. “Your self- righteousness is more dangerous than that bear.”

“My self-righteousness is justified.” He pointed a finger in her direction. “You lied. I didn’t.”

“Clearly, I owe you an apology. I’m sorry, Mitch. I didn’t tell you how much money I have.” Not caring that she stood barefoot in cold snow, she spread her arms wide. “Are you happy now? You’ve been looking for an excuse not to trust me, and you finally found it.”

He slapped his hands on the edge of the tub and stood. “Let me guess. You’re walking out in the middle of an argument. Again.”

“Bingo. Enjoy the solitude. Forgive me for not showing you my investment portfolio before our first kiss. Call me crazy, but I don’t like to financially undress until I get to know a guy.” She ripped her towel off the hook, leaving behind a clump of white thread wiggling in the cold air. “You did a great job of convicting me before you ever heard my testimony. If you ever get tired of blowing glass, you should become a prosecutor.”

His hands fisted against the tub’s plastic rim. “While we’re trading advice, let me do you a favor and state the obvious. You believe every man will break your heart because one man did.”

“Three men stepped on my heart, but who’s counting?” First her father, then David, and now Mitch. When would she find a man willing to drop his own agenda for a few moments to listen to her?

She crossed the deck toward the house, stormed inside, and locked herself in her room. Stripping out of her wet bathing suit, she dressed and grabbed her camera, laptop, and purse. Her clothes could wait until tomorrow…but she couldn’t wait another second to leave Mitch.
