THE WAIT IT IS OVER...

By Danielle-Claude Ngontang Mba

Series – Coulda Woulda Shoulda Song Series - #2
Genre – Contemporary Romance
Publication Date – January 18, 2014

Marcus, Greg and Lucia are back in the second part of their journey to their perfect love song... will they finally find it?

Book Two:
This would have been their perfect love song…It has been two years since Lucia Mpobo-Riddell has made her choice between the two men in her life. She and her beloved would have been perfectly happy if it wasn’t for… the constant distractions from her past, her sister Noor’s complicated life, her own doubts and fears. Maybe there wasn’t such a thing as perfection and this was a lesson that Lucia was going to learn the hard way.
Greg McMullen and Marcus Grant’s lives had been affected by Lucia’s choice that day in Glasgow two years ago. Since then one had been fighting to keep her when the other had been relentlessly trying to get her back. It soon became apparent to them that she wasn’t the Lucia they met and fell in love with anymore. Her life and priorities had completely shifted. To even consider keeping her or just getting her back, they would have to accept it or they would have to let her go. But would they ever be able to do either?

Are we sure Marcus and Patrick are brothers? They have the same height, same weight, same built but their faces are so different. “Can you quit staring?” Offense is the best defence.
“Could you?” Patrick says with a smug smile. Well there’s always that smugness.
Nooradine Mpobo-Riddell

“Chinese food same time tomorrow then?” he says with his signature smug smile.
“Someday Mercutio, I will wipe that smug look off your face…for good,” I say standing up.
“It’s a date Luce.” He says as he closes the door behind him.
I hold still waiting for my usual guilt to take over… any minute now. Nothing?
Lucia Mpobo-Riddell

Nooradine - He’s got …hungry eyes … was this really meant to be?
I turn around in bed to see Patrick staring at me through his piercing almost golden brown eyes.  Such a hypnotising contrast with his jaded back hair and this strange natural olive skin he seems to always have. Is anything about this man not perfect?  He smiles and silently answers my question.  “Good you’re awake! I don’t have to kick you out of my bed while you’re sleeping,” I say sliding off the bed as quickly as possible. Oh the shame! I forgot… I’m not wearing any clothes. I’m offering a wonderful rear view and I can hear him laughing behind me.  Or it is just my morning hangover ringing as usual, reminding me that I’d been a bad, bad lass last night.
“I’ll get started on the shakes,” I hear him say before I shut the bathroom door very loudly for dramatic effect. I’ll be cast out of the Riddell clan if they knew that I shared the recipe. It’s the only rule we have: do not tell or share why we Riddell are able to drink the way we do. We should really sell the formula–
“Are you in a better mood now?” Patrick asks through the door.
“Paddy you’re not coming in. I need to get ready; I have an appointment with my lawyer and Lucia in less than three hours.” I start running the shower completely aware that I didn’t lock the door.
So cheeky Paddy opens it, “Three hours… I promise to send you off in time.” I hate the fact that I cannot resist him. To Hell with those Grant men and their smugness. “Do we really have to go through the same scenario every day Deeny?” He gave me a nickname; no man has done that since Papa. “I’m not moving my flight this time. I’ll be on my way back to London tonight–”
“–Please you’ve been saying that for the past week,” I say back and slide open my shower to let him in. I will not be dumb struck by his body…I will not blush… I’m Nooradine Mpobo and I don’t blush. I’ve dating dancers since I was a teenager, these men are all about how ripped they are. “I need to cut back on the drinking,” I mumble handing him the soap so he can sponge my back.
“Um,” Patrick absently says. He’s really concentrating on getting my back a good clean. We both know that I won’t do such a thing, I’m just saying it. Like you say that you’ll start eating fewer carbs or take on reading autobiographies by politicians.
“I’m serious… no drinking tonight, just tea,” I tell him and turn around. I feel like I’m harbouring a sexy fugitive. Patrick barely leaves my condo and no one knows he’s here. No one knows…It’s so very exciting!
“Right. I won’t be here to change your mind. My alcoholic tendencies and I will be on a plane by the time you get back.” He leans and kisses my neck and just stays there for what seems like an eternity. By the time he finishes, I’m holding on to the shower doors. “I’m just taking in as much of you as I can,” he whispers taking my lips this time. Hell with those Grant men and their smugness…

It's all about the catchy tunes...

Love can be such a “coulda, woulda, shoulda” song sometimes…When Lucia Mpobo-Riddell met Marcus Grant they instantly clicked. Like Fate intervened. Lucia soon discovered that it was Betrayal instead. But now whether they liked it or not they had to work together. But maybe things could still work out between them… All things considered, this could have been one heck of a love song!
