The Blurb ...

 Counting on Love, Book 1
Sometimes you see love clearly.  And sometimes it has to smack you in the face. When a stranger walks up and punches him, Ryan Kaye assumes there’s a good reason.  But he’s stunned to learn it’s over a one-night stand that never happened —with his friend’s sister, straight-laced Amanda Dixon.  When Ryan confronts her about the lie, Amanda apologizes, but Ryan realizes he doesn’t want her to be sorry…he wants the night they supposedly spent together.
Amanda’s not looking to add anyone to her long list of commitments, so she was only trying to let a nice guy down easy by telling him a fling with Ryan broke her heart.  So what if the fling only happened in her dreams?  But when Ryan Kaye tempts her with the chance to go crazy and fulfill a few fantasies, she can’t resist.  Thank goodness one night isn’t enough time to fall in love…  Warning: Contains a hot paramedic who knows how to get a girl to let her hair down, a girl who thinks she prefers her hair up, some naughty laser tag, some naughty role-playing and a lot of falling in love.

Sneak Peek inside the cover of She's The One

Amanda gasped. “He hit you?” “Yeah, because I slept with you.” “I… Oh… Um…” Ryan fought a smile. “But it’s weird. That really seems like something I’d remember.” She rolled her eyes. “We all probably blend together after awhile.” She said it quietly, more of a mutter really, but he heard it. “What’s that mean?” he demanded. He put a finger under her chin and tipped her head so she had to look at him. “Amanda, what does that mean?” She shrugged and pulled her chin away from his touch. “It means that it’s got to be difficult keeping track of everyone in and out of your bed without making them all wear name tags.” He grinned. He couldn’t help it. She was sassy too. He liked that. And liked even more that it didn’t show all the time. Emma was pretty much what-you-see-is-what-you-get. He liked knowing that there might be layers to Amanda Dixon to discover.
“Where would they pin the name tags?” he couldn’t resist asking. For just a moment, Amanda seemed surprised. Then she smiled. “You’ll have to get the adhesive ones, I guess.” “Might cover up something I need to see.” “You could try only dating women named Jennifer or something.” He smiled. “But then Tim Winters wouldn’t believe whatever you told him about you and me.” Amanda pressed her lips together. Then said, “I’m really sorry he hit you.” “I’ll live. What I want to know is why he did it.” “I thought he…told you.”
She actually blushed and Ryan wondered if he could remember the last time he’d seen a woman blush. Not off the top of his head.
“I want to hear it from you.” She looked at the collar of his shirt instead of his eyes. “I told him I had a one-night stand with someone and had feelings for him.” “Me.” “Yes.”

A Kiss to Die For by Gail Barrett (@GailEBarrett and @GoddessFish)

The Blurb...

Homeless Army veteran Sullivan Turner is nobody’s hero.  His failure to save his fallen comrades proved that.  So when a gutsy social worker gets caught in a drug gang’s crosshairs, he knows he’s the last man who can safeguard her and the pregnant teenagers she’s trying to protect.

Former debutant Haley Barnes learned the hard way how to survive.
After witnessing a cold-blooded murder, the terrified teenaged runaway changed her identity and hid to save her life.  But when the killer tracks her down and attacks the girls in the homeless shelter she now runs, Haley knows the time has come to stand and fight.  But to bring down the powerful killer she must confront her high-society family’s darkest secrets -- and convince wounded warrior Sully Turner he’s the hero she believes.

A sneak peek inside the cover of A Kiss to Die For

“I nearly got you killed tonight.”

“That wasn’t your fault.  You didn’t bring the gang to the house.”

“But I wasn’t there to protect you when they showed up.”

“You were there when it counted.”

“But what if I hadn’t been?”  Raw fear rang in his voice, his eyes so bleak that a heavy lump wedged in her throat.

And suddenly, she realized he wasn’t talking only about her.  His fears went beyond the gang, beyond the danger shadowing their heels, to whatever had caused those flashbacks that plagued his nights.  He believed that he’d failed someone.  This courageous man was tortured by guilt.

But she knew him.  Maybe she didn’t know much about his childhood or family.  Maybe he hadn’t shared many details about his past.  But she knew the essence of who he was.

And she’d bet her life on one immutable fact.  Sully would fight to the death to protect the people he loved.  He would never willingly give up.  Whatever had happened in Afghanistan wasn’t his fault.  How could he ever have doubts about that?

Unable to resist him, she tossed off her blankets and cupped his jaw with her hand, willing him to understand.  “Sully...  You’ve saved me so many times.  Even when you didn’t know me, you risked your life for mine.  You’ve come through for me time after time.  And you’re the bravest man I’ve ever met.”

“You’re wrong.  I’m not who you think I am.”

“You’re exactly who I think you are.”

Gail will be awarding a $25 Amazon gift certificate and either a signed print copy (US ONLY) or an electronic copy of Fatal Exposure(Buried Secrets book one) to one randomly drawn commenter during this tour and her other Super Book Blast on August 21st.

Eyes of Love by Angelina Rose #GF_EyesOfLove

Today on Beyond My Writing Space, I'm featuring the lovely Angelina Rose, author of several romance novellas and novelettes. Angelina is showcasing The Eyes of Love.

The Deets

After a tragic loss five years ago, Sally Overby becomes an Attorney in Atlanta. She convinces herself that all she'll ever need again is her young son, David, and her life as an attorney. Until one day, Colin Dean barges back into her life and promptly blows her safe world apart, driving her crazy as only a guy she'd had a "school girl crush" on can.
Sally is wary to love deeply. Only, with every loving look Colin gives her plus every sweet kiss, as the attraction between them sparks, she can’t help but wonder if she’s met the one she should be with. And although Colin didn’t realize his life was going to change so quickly, amazingly, he isn’t the least bit interested in fighting that change. Instead, he’s gearing up for a different fight altogether. The one for Sally’s heart. Will Colin be able to convince her that's it safe to love him... and that forever isn't really out of reach?
The Eyes of Love is a novella… so you can enjoy it in just one day!

Sneak Peek inside the cover

A hush fell over the room for a moment as Stephanie appeared with Jazz trailing behind her. She was wearing a skin tight black dress with stiletto heels which was typical Stephanie fashion. She wanted nothing more than to be the center of attention like she always had been.

Without missing a beat, Stephanie walked straight over to Colin. Sally was shocked.

"Hello, Colin..." she purred as she ignored Sally completely. "You look sexy tonight, as always." She smiled seductively as Colin looked away. "Who's your friend?"

"None of your business, Steph. Leave me alone."

"Oohhh.... Did I touch a nerve, sweetie?" she asked as she reached out to touch his chest.

"Don't touch me, Stephanie. I'm warning you. Why don't you go back to Jazz?"

"Oh. Jazz. Boring..." she sang. "We're not together anymore, just so you know..." she whispered in a husky voice. Colin held onto Sally's hand for dear life. She had to do something.

"Stephanie, don't you remember me?" she asked grinning from ear to ear as she slid into Colin's side. He put his arm around her and stared down in shock at what she was about to say.

"I don't know you," Stephanie said looking her up and down.

"Wow. Age is really doing a number on your brain," Sally said.

"Who are you?" Stephanie snapped. Jazz stood a few feet back obviously trying to hear the conversation.

"I'm your worst nightmare," Sally growled as she came almost nose to nose with Stephanie, her attorney public speaking skills getting ready to display themselves. She pulled the name tag from her purse without breaking eye contact and held it up. "You see, I'm the nerd that you and your cronies bullied through high school."

Who is Angelina Rose?

Angelina Rose is the author of romantic novellas and novelettes. She lives in the Mountains with her good looking man, two dogs... one hyperactive, the other one not so (thank goodness), and two rather arrogant cats.

She loves to write, read, sing and dance, as well as have fun with her family and friends.

She also loves to connect with her readers through Facebook and Twitter, so check out her website for ways to connect!

 Favebook | Twitter | Website | Goodreads

Angelina Rose has wanted to write ever since she could hold a pencil. The first daughter of immigrant parents, Angelina had her head buried in books, lost in a world of heroes, heroines and exotic places.

It was a shocking experience that jump-started Angelina's author career.

"I awoke in the ICU... I had been unconscious for several days," Angelina says.

In 2010, Angelina had a long stint in hospital following her involvement in a motor vehicle accident: the longest time off work (as a Registered Nurse), she'd ever had in her life!

It was then she took up pen and paper and started to write again, just as she had done when she was a child. She wrote four short fiction stories for young adults, entered them in several competitions, and managed to win three first prizes!

After happily dipping her toes into writing those short fiction stories for young adults, Angelina has now authored four books in a new "Mill Creek Crossing Romance" series... contemporary romance intended for adults.

The "Starting Over Series" is another contemporary romance series she wrote about a subject she knows well... nurses and their love life. At a recent reunion of her graduating class, she could not help but notice how the same girls would group together and laugh, chat, and even shed some tears over their lives since graduating. Many of the girls had divorced... so Angelina thought "what if a group of the nurses came up with a plan to meet in two years and have a new love story to share?" Then the first story in the series was born.

There is always a story running around in her head. A man with thick dark hair, gray-blue eyes, with an engaging smile and a quick wit... or a girl crying over a broken relationship. She finds herself talking to these characters during her day: when she's doing dishes, or bathing babies at the hospital. These characters crop up on days at the beach or on walks through the neighborhood. This is how the stories start to grow.

Angelina's mother was an author, so Angelina grew up with a love of words and stories. If she wasn't writing a short story about something that took her fancy, her head was buried in books... reading, reading, reading, as her brother constantly told her...

When she's not spending time with her goodlooking man, or quality time with her laptop, she's working at the hospital, hanging out with her family and friends, or walking her two dogs around the neighborhood. Angelina spends as much time as she can traveling, then coming home and including some of those adventures in her stories.

Angelina really loves to hear from her readers and she invites you to connect with her on Facebook as she interacts daily with her readers there!

Guest Post and Giveaway - Moon Dance by Jillian Chantal (@JillianChantal, a @GoddessFish Promo)

Today on Beyond My Writing Space, I'm welcoming lawyer and romance author, Jillian Chantal. Today, we're talking about 'What a creative writer does when they're not creatively writing?'  and Jullian has her hand in all kinds of creative little pies. :)

But first, here's a little sneak preview of the fascinating story of Olga and Gabe from Jullian's latest title Moon Dance,

Jillian will be awarding a free backlist e-book to a randomly drawn commenter at each stop of the Moon Dance blog tour, and a Grand Prize of a moon charm/crystal necklace to a randomly drawn commenter during the tour.  So come and say hi to Jillian!

The deets ...

Olga Quinn hopes her relocation to London to work on their space shuttle program is the life changing move she needs after the loss of her co-worker in a workplace explosion.  She meets Gabriel Swicord, a fireman turned celebrity radio personality and deejay. He lost his sight while rescuing a family in the line of duty and has immersed himself in music and work since then. For a few days, Olga and Gabe burn hot for each other and then things turn cold.
Someone is murdering women who patronize the club where Gabe spins records. It appears that he's the connection to the dead women and his name and face are plastered all over the news. Things are not looking good for Olga's peaceful new life and when the killers turn kidnappers, things really begin to heat up.

Another voice chimed in, "Am I interrupting?"
Gabe glanced toward the speaker as Mary said, "This guy is a big old meanie-head. Be warned. He'll play the song you want but he won't share a cocktail with you."
"That's perfectly fine with me." The second woman addressed Gabe. "Can I make a request?"
Mary huffed and Gabe could discern her spin on her heel and stalk away. "So, did you come over her to tell me what kind of person I am, finally?"
"Huh? What are you talking about?"
He pointed at her. "You. Last night. Spilled drink. Remember? You said I was acting a like a typical person like me. You never told me exactly what that was."
"How the hell did you know that I was the same person from last night?"
"Hey, I'm blind, not stupid." Gabe barked a laugh.
"Still, you have to admit, it's a little weird. You don't know what I look like, you've only heard my voice once and you pegged me for the woman you talked to for a few minutes one time. It's very impressive and I want to know how you do it."
"In one sentence you call me weird and in the next, you call me impressive. Which is it?"
"Weirdly impressive. So, how'd you do it? Really?"
Gabe could hear the smile in her voice. She actually seemed nicer tonight than she had the evening before. "It's a combination of voice and scent. I've learned to master putting the two together. I usually associate people with the way they smell and speak. With you, it's easier."
"Why's that?"
"Let's start with that Texas drawl."
"And go where from there? Since American and twang is a dead giveaway."
Gabe leaned out the window and rested his elbows on the ledge. "From there, we go to the combination of jasmine, sandalwood and grapefruit, which I believe is a mixture of your shampoo and the top-note of your perfume."
"Well, I've made a decision."
"And what's that?" Gabe grinned because he could tell from the tone of her voice that she was delighted with his answer.
"Between weird and impressive, my decision is impressive. Hands down."
"Thank you, ma'am." Gabe bowed his head. "But you came over her to make a request, didn't you?"

What I do when I’m not doing the writing thing!

by Jillian Chantal

I work as a lawyer in my day job and that’s a lot of fun for me but probably not to most people. I happen to be one of those folks who like to discuss and argue points and I also like to cross-examine which makes me a little bit strange I guess. I like to get to the truth and have always had a very strong, innate sense of justice.
In my free time when I’m not writing or at the day job, I love to take photos. I adore nature shots as well as buildings and historic places. When I have my camera in hand, I seek out unusual angles and odd details. I also have a passion for red doors. I have a lot of pictures of red doors that I’ve seen in my travels. Back in the dark ages, red doors meant sanctuary from the law and for some reason, I’m drawn to them. I can’t even begin to psychoanalyze why a lawyer would be attracted to the symbols for sanctuary. LOL
As an offshoot of the photography bug, I also like to scrapbook. It’s another creative escape for me. The funny thing is, I come from a family of artists. My grandmother was an oil painter, my dad is an oil painter, my sister is an art teacher and my son is an architect. I, on the other hand, can’t draw a straight line with a ruler. No, really, I can’t. I can put a ruler on a piece of paper, place a pencil on the edge and draw down. When I pick up the ruler, the line is not straight.
For years, I didn’t do anything artistic as I was intimidated by all the talent in my family. My dad kept telling me I didn’t have to draw straight to be an artist. I always said I only had a way with words but that I wasn’t creative. I finally started to scrapbook with my sister and when they didn’t have a certain embellishment for my page in the store, I started making my own.  Yet, I would still say I wasn’t creative.
The day I realized I did have some artistic creativity in my head was the day someone first complimented my choice of colors on a scrapbook page and my eye for drama in the photos I had taken. I was thrilled because even though I knew I was creative with words, I felt a little like I didn’t fit in with my amazingly talented family. Who knows what we might have hidden in us merely waiting for a chance to blossom? I’m glad I finally gave my little spark of creativity a chance to fly free.

Guest Post and GiveAway with Kristine Mason (@KristineMason7 @GoddessFish)

Today, I'd like to welcome the lovely Kristine Mason to Beyond My Writing Space. Kristine is the author of four amazing romance titles. But today, I'm showcasing Book 2 in the Core Shadow Trilogy Shadow of Perception.

In my younger days I read so many, romantic suspense I eventually tired of working out the plot from the beginning. So what really intrigued me about this title is the creepiness of the appearing dvd's mixed with the second chance romance scenario. Its been along time since a romantic suspence really appealed to me. So I'm off to read book one in this trilogy while you all enjoy getting to know Kristine Mason. She's here to tell you all about what a creative writer does when they're not creatively writing.

There's a chance to get your hands on a back list copy of Kristine's novel Pick Me or Shadow of Danger So don't forget to leave your comments below!

So Kristine... What Do You Do When You're Not Creatively Writing?

When I’m not creatively writing, I’m editing, plotting, promoting and working on whatever other projects need to be handled. Because I’m a one-person show I’m solely responsible for working with my cover artist, my web designer, book formatter, as well as my editor for whichever book is in that particular stage of the process. It might not sound like much, but all of these things take up a huge chunk of my time. Time that I’d rather use for writing.

I have four kids (11, 10, 7 and 2). Trying to fit in their day-to-day things such as sports and school, plus my career needs, has made for a hectic and sometimes stressful schedule. I’m starting to think I strive on chaos, though. I seem to produce more when the pressure is on. But to ease some of that stress and pressure I workout regularly, take my youngest for long walks and to the park, and work in my garden. Depending on the season, you’ll find me on the sidelines watching my boys play baseball, football or lacrosse. Being with my family is important. Finding a balance between family and career can be a struggle. I have great kids and a supportive husband…so I’m getting there!

Shadow of Perception...The Deets

What happens when negligent plastic surgeons receive a taste of their own medicine…?
Chicago investigative reporter, Eden Risk, receives an unmarked envelope containing a postcard ordering her to watch the enclosed DVD…or someone else dies. No Police. After Eden watches the DVD, a gruesome, horrifying surgery, she turns to the private criminal investigation agency, CORE, for help. Only she hadn’t expected that help to come with a catch. Her former lover,
Hudson Patterson, has been assigned to the case. Hudson would rather have another CORE agent handle the investigation. Two years ago, he’d screwed things up with Eden…bad. And as more DVDs arrive, Eden and Hudson find themselves not only knee-deep in a twisted investigation, but forced to deal with their past, and the love they’d tried to deny.

Sneak Peek inside the Cover of Shadow of Perception

Eden flinched and when she finally met his gaze, Hudson moved closer, fighting the urge to reach for her and smooth away the worry creasing her forehead, to hold her and assure her he’d never let anything happen to her. He fisted his hands instead. The wariness in her eyes, the rigidness of her body told him what he needed to know. She wasn’t ready for what he was willing to offer. Not just sex, but comfort, familiarity, and maybe this time around more of himself.
“I’m not trying to scare you. I want you to be realistic. I want you safe.” Gripping the edge of the kitchen counter, reminding him he’d unintentionally crowded her, she leaned back. “I appreciate your concern. But I’ll be well protected tonight. All night.”
Unconvinced he said, “The security system is good, I’ve seen to it myself, but having me here—just in case—is an even better security measure.”
“Sorry, but three’s a crowd. I doubt my date will appreciate my babysitter hanging around while we’re...dating.”
She had a frickin’ date?
“Cancel,” he said, hoping he’d kept the resentment from his voice. Of course he shouldn’t have expected her to remain celibate since they’d broken up. He’d had his share of “dates” too. But knowing another man would be here, in her townhouse, in her bed, had his empty stomach churning with jealousy. The way his emotions were hitting him like a barrage of bullets today, he realized he’d never gotten over the loss of what could have been between them. No other woman before or after Eden had stirred his gut with thoughts of love and all that other stuff he didn’t have the vocabulary to name.

The GiveAway

Kristine will be awarding $5 Amazon gift cards to six randomly drawn commenters during the tour as well as print books to ten other randomly drawn commenters during the tour. Who is Kristine Mason?

I didn’t pick up my first romance novel until I was in my late twenties. Immediately hooked, I read a bazillion books before deciding to write one of my own. After the birth of my first son I needed something to keep my mind from turning to mush, and Sesame Street wasn’t cutting it. While that first book will never see the light of day, something good had come from writing it. I realized my passion, and had found a career that I love.

When I’m not writing contemporary romances and dark, romantic suspense novels (or reading them!) I’m chasing after my four kids and two neurotic dogs.

The Deets ....

To their friends, Nick and Cathy Chance have the perfect marriage. High school sweethearts who’ve been together for ten years, they’ve weathered challenges and are as committed as they were when they first fell in love. Cathy trusts Nick, Nick’s world revolves around his wife, and the future looks golden.

To everyone who knows them, Cathy Chance and Roxanne Ruiz have a perfect friendship. They connected in grade school and since then have been each other’s confident and trusted advisor. Cathy loves the gorgeous Roxanne like a sister, Roxanne has fun-loving Cathy’s back in every situation, though lately there’s been tension between these two best friends…

And then, on a sunny summer morning, the unthinkable occurs, throwing into doubt the truth of what each of these people really know about themselves and one another.

Will Roxanne’s sacrifice be too little, and too late? Should Nick’s love for his wife be strong enough to risk trusting his heart more than logic? Can Cathy’s devotion to Nick give her enough strength to convince him to see her for who she really is?

Secret Sister proves how strong, how stubborn, and how trustworthy love can be as Nick and Cathy and Roxanne are challenged to overcome the secrets, the lies … and one extraordinary twist of fate that turns their lives upside down.

Sneak Peek inside the pages ....

When I ‘woke up,’ strange words to use after being unconscious for what was surely days, not hours, I felt remarkably lucid. Which is to say, I opened my eyes and saw and understood that I was in a hospital bed, there were nurses working in the area outside my glassed-in room, and I was hooked to an I.V. and some other kind of machine.

I didn’t know the story of how I got here, but assumed it was bad. I remembered hearing, somewhere, that I had been in a terrible car accident, but I was blank to any other details.

For instance, I didn’t know my name. I examined the contents of my brain and started a list of unknown things. Where was I? No clue. What day was it? I looked outside and saw blue sky. Zero. I was blank to the most basic of information.

My chest tightened and a roar began in my head. Don’t panic. I gulped air, blinked; fought to stay awake.

“Roxanne. Roxanne Ruiz. Do you know where you are?”

I didn’t recognize that name. In my brain I saw a face. A kind face, smiling. A great looking guy with strong arms and blue eyes.

But I had no idea who he was either …
